If you’re about to read Deep Down Dead, bring along snacks and something to drink because you won’t want to leave your favorite chair for hours. Oh, you should also strap on a seatbelt.To describe this book as fast-paced would be an understatement. It revs like a ’68 Mustang and easily handles the hairpin curves in the storyline.
The characters are believable, especially Lori Anderson, the strong female lead, who does all she can to pay her nine-year-old daughter’s medical bills while keeping a roof over their heads. The exciting tale is set primarily in Florida, with its amusement parks, gators and occasionally strange vibe. Without giving too much away, Lori is a good-looking, quick-witted, single mom, and a top-rated bounty hunter, armed and capable. So don’t mess with her or her kid. Yes, she comes with emotional baggage, but her backstory intertwines seamlessly with the other characters, making this book a standout. Five stars for Steph Broadribb.

Lori Anderson, I think I love you! Kick ass, ball buster, no nonsense but at the same time vulnerable and a little bit unsure of herself, this woman is dynamite and she's a Bounty Hunter too! This was a new take for me! However, there was no doubt it was going to be one that I loved as the first couple of chapters just sucked me right in hook line and sinker!
Fast paced and heart stopping the tension just does not let up as what seemed like an easy job for Lori takes a sinister turn which threatens all that she holds dear.
A confident narrative from Steph Broadribb matched her fearless protagonist, Lori Anderson, giving me a fast paced and high thrill read! Dog the Bounty Hunter, hell do you have competition! Get this on screen now please!
This plot contains it all! We have paedophile rings, mafia & conspiracy all rolled into an explosive storyline that's going to make you feel a little bit anxious the next time you visit a theme park!
The chemistry between Lori and JT was palpable throughout the book. We know that they have history but is this a story that Lori wants to revisit or has she firmly closed the pages of this book? It is a real will they, won't they read and kind of put me a little in mind of Moonlighting with David Addison (Bruce Willis) and Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd).
I read this book with my heart in my mouth, going so fast to keep up with the pace that at times I had to rewind and reread a few paragraphs. It got my pulse racing and my brain engaged and it ended with that brilliant OMG what's going to happen next feeling! Which is just perfect as I have the second in the series, Deep Blue Trouble" to read for the Blog Tour in January.
Steph Broadribb has created a dynamic and engaging new character in Lori Anderson and if the rest of the series is as good as this one then this woman is onto a winner!
OH MY! Where do I begin? "Deep Down Dead" is an outstanding high octane thriller that I wholeheartedly enjoyed from the tense start to the fantastic finish! The first incredible chapter was so gripping and unputdownable I just knew I wasn't going to be able to stop reading anytime soon. I was instantly attracted to the main protagonist Lori Anderson, strong, tough, fearless, exceptional at her job and definitely not someone to be overlooked. The descriptions of her could go on and on and on......
Trying to keep her Florida bounty hunting role separate to being a mother of nine year old Dakota (who suffers from Leukaemia), she unfortunately has no choice but to take her daughter with her on her next bounty hunt. Needing to make a fast buck to pay medical fees and rent due, former stripper Lori doesn't anticipate the serious danger she puts herself and Dakota in. The fugitive she's being paid to bring in is none other than her former mentor 'JT' the man who made her the woman she is today and who now appears to be mixed up in the powerful Miami Mob. With just three days to get JT back to Florida, fearsome and deadly foes on their tail, her daughter to protect and along with fighting her feelings for JT, Lori has her work cut out. Can she bring JT back in time to collect her fee and what danger has she exposed Dakota to?
There's action galore throughout the book and it really does race along at breakneck speed. Pace perfect, it pulls you in and doesn't let you go until the nail biting end.
The author Steph Broadribb is an outstanding writer and for a debut book this is one of the very best I have EVER read! This could easily have been written by any of the big name American writers, it was so professional, polished and perfect.
I'm not too sure who I love the most - Lori or JT, as both were adorable badass characters you can't fail to enjoy reading about and I really can't wait to meet them again in the next in this exhilarating series - "Deep Blue Trouble" also published by Orenda Books.
This is another book I'd happily award six stars to if I could, it really begs to be read and its a story I can't recommend highly enough to crime readers young and old alike, you will NOT be disappointed!

Great to see the writer is so enthralled with every specific thing that happens in this story.Absolutely loved every second.
What a gripping and thoroughly engaging read... wanted and needed to know what happened next, right thru to the very last page! I look forward to the next in the Lori Anderson series... well done Steph you waited until it was perfecto before you published and that will be one of the many secrets of this book's justly earned success. I will tell all I know about it.
